CPD for the HydroChute Maintenance Team: Electrical Competency Training
To ensure safe and standardised project outcomes we widened the scope of our electrical training to include design, manufacturing, installation, and inspection teams.
Whilst all the topics covered were already understood by our electrically qualified engineers, creating a space where they could share that knowledge with others in the company has resulted in increased collaboration, improved communication, and a much broader understanding between the teams.
The hands-on training course educated all about the dangers of electrical installations and how to protect themselves and others.
Course objectives included:
• Basic Electrical Units and Principles
• Fundamentals of Electrical Circuits
• Fault Finding Tools, aids, test equipment and their correct use
• Circuits in buildings including power, lighting and heating
• Electrical Circuit Protection, MCSs, Fuses and Distribution Boards
• Lighting Circuits and Equipment
• Appliances and Ratings
• Replacing like-for-like components in light fittings, sockets, switches
• The Dangers of Electricity and Safe Working Practices
• Electrical Isolation Procedures
• Typical faults, their causes and rectification
• Understanding Limitations
• Awareness of Wiring Regulations
