Fire Safety Bin Chutes Installed in Walsall
The FRA identified serious risks at some high rise tower blocks in Walsall. The existing bin chute hoppers were over 50 years old and offered no protection from smoke egress in the event of a fire. Additionally, the hoppers had no self-closing mechanism, leaving residents at risk if the bin chute door was left open.
At the base of each chute, the original manual closure plates were still in place. They had long since rusted in an open position and were not compliant with current fire safety standards for refuse chutes. Bin chute closure plates should automatically close in the event of a fire.
Bringing together our team of qualified assessors, fabricators, and installers, we inspected, measured up, manufactured and fitted new 4hr fire-rated hoppers and fire closure plates in record time!
Manufactured and fitted to BS476 the new hoppers and fire closure plates ensure that the bin chutes are now fully compliant with the latest fire safety standards – safe for at least another 50 years!
Big thanks to all the team at HydroChute. Another brilliant outcome and a very happy client.
